CZ | Během svého života jsem poznal mnoho lidí, jazyků i hudebních tradic. Až po více než čtyřiceti letech jsem si však naplno uvědomil, že právě halgato tvoří moje skutečné kořeny.
Písně, které mi předali moji předci — prarodiče i rodiče — jsou pokladem, který si nesu hluboko v sobě.
Po celém světě je známé flamenco španělských Romů, dechová hudba rumunských Romů nebo portugalské fado. Jedinečný žánr halgato, spojený především se životem maďarských a československých Romů, však zůstává téměř neznámý a tato tradice pomalu mizí.
Tímto filmem chci sdílet svůj osobní příběh halgata a ukázat, že nejde jen o hudební žánr, ale o způsob, jak uchopit emoce, paměť a hluboké vrstvy lidské duše.

ENG | During my life I have met many people, languages ​​& musical traditions. However, it was only after more than forty years that I fully realized that halgato is my true roots.
The songs that my ancestors — grandparents & parents — have passed down to me are a treasure that I carry deep within me.
The flamenco of the Spanish Roma, the brass music of the Romanian Roma or the Portuguese fado are known all over the world. However, the unique genre of halgato, associated primarily with the life of the Hungarian and Czechoslovak Roma, remains almost unknown and this tradition is slowly disappearing.
With this film I want to share my personal story of halgato and show that it is not just a musical genre, but a way to capture emotions, memory and the deep layers of the human soul.
